A heat sealer is a machine which is used to seal packaging and plastic. Certain plastic materials can be used in conjunction with the heat sealer thus allowing for the heat to seal any open areas in the plastic. Heat sealers can be used to seal food, pictures, jewellery, DVDs and many other items.
An impulse heat sealer uses a stationary element which is heated with each sealing cycle. Impulse sealers are often used on thicker material – or material that is hard to seal. This is because it uses both an upper and a lower sealing element, thereby fusing both sides at the same time.
L bar heat sealers and I bar heat sealers usually only have one heated bar which will seal the plastic, one it has come into contact with it. An L bar heat sealer differs to an I bar sealer in shape. The cutting bar of an L bar sealer is the shape of an L. The L bar only requires one pass to cut film around a product.
There is a multitude of different kinds of heat sealers. You can get heavy duty ones, foot-operated ones, continuous ones, hand-held ones and more. Continuous heat sealers and Impulse heat sealers are very common. As the name suggests, continuous sealers are used for continuous product lines. They are common in larger organisations where a large quantity of products is necessary.
An Impulse heat sealer is often partially automated but is normally used by hand. Impulse heat sealers vary in price range but a small desk-top version can be very reasonably priced.
Continuous heat sealers are normally much larger with a much high volume capacity. Therefore they are usually much more expensive.
Most heat sealers are designed for use with a number of different plastics, although this will be specified in the product instructions. The more heavy-duty the plastic, the higher the heat can be. If the plastic is more delicate, then a lower temperature is required. A temperature dial will allow for alterations, depending on the type of plastic being used.
A strapping machine is used to bundle a number of items together securely. Items are secured with either a metal or a plastic strap. Many companies strap products together in preparation for travel. This ensures that they are tightly secured and will not move or fall during transit.
A strapping kit is very convenient as it is made up of a variety of products which will enable strapping to take place, for example a dispenser, a tensioner, a coil of strapping and some seals.
Shrink wrap is used to seal products. It is made from polymer plastic film and when heat is directed onto it, it will shrink to fit round the product it is covering and will act as a seal.
Shrink wrap is very common in the manufacturing world. It can be used on a huge variety of products and is often used on DVDs, CDs, beverages and foods such as cheese and meat.
An electronic tape dispenser is a tape dispenser which is operated by the touch of a button. It often has the ability to dispense pre-determined sellotape lengths. It is very valuable for larger organisations where a lot of sellotape is required.
A glue gun is a simple and convenient way of applying adhesives. It is an electrical device which takes solid sticks of glue. The solid glue is melted and can then be pushed out of the glue gun by a trigger. After application, initially the glue is tacky but soon dries (normally within 1 minute).
